Everyone there had their kids or work in respectful positions, including myself, I work in law enforcement and something like that rumor could cost me my job or even one of my guest’s jobs or kids! My sister then told me that she doesn’t think what her daughter said was untrue and that my niece even told her that my friends and I did nothing but talk bad about my sister behind her back after she left. Again, another lie. My brother in law then became involved and told me that it was no place for him to say who is saying the truth as everything was all “he said she said”. The daughter needs to be disciplined on it, but the mother genuinely should not have left the baby with the teen if A. She knows what she's like, and B. Is treating to leave the baby unattended. Like fully understand that a bigger issue with the daughter, but the mother also has a responsibility to the baby to understand what family member are competent enough to watch them, and which will not. Yeah it sucks that her stepdaughter is unwilling to help but we also have no idea, how the stepmom treats the daughter, or how the new baby is affecting her emotionally. Frankly, she should probably be in therapy simply because she has a stepmom so she has a safe place to talk about her feelings and work through them.

I didn't pay attention to the story at first and thought the daughter was like ten or younger. A fourteen year old is mature enough to look after a baby for five minutes and also has enough understanding about how dangerous leaving him alone is. The father is coddling her, she's not 'just a child' at that age. It sounds like she might be jealous of the baby and that's why she hates him. After OP married a new woman and had a second child, the daughter possibly feels replaced and despises the baby and wife for it.

Asking her to babysit and look after a baby is one thing, its another to literally sit beside a stroller for FIVE MINUTES til she finishes peeing and walkes out...yes she could and probably has took the baby into the toilet. but if the handicapped stall isnt available, the regular stall is wide open and the stroller is wedged into opening so you have your eyes on baby at all times and to hell with anyone who walks in an sees you peeing, pooping or wiping. So to expedite not having to flash your tidbits and include the store in your toilet journey, literally a five minute eyeballing of a baby was what the 14YR OLD needed to do. A literal mom stranger would have done as much for the wife and the girl couldnt??? The entitled kid needs to know she isnt showing how much she doesnt like situation, she is showing she doesnt have good decision skills and is growing up to see right from wrong, because this is going to be a symptom of a larger problem in her life going forward. 1) should have told the host if her son doesn't get a burger, then she wants the burgers she brought back or to be reimbursed for the cost then gather kids and left. 2) Tell husband if he wants to still be friends with the douchebag host that he can, you won't control his friends, but said friend isn't welcome in your home and if he chooses to go to BBQs at his home again, husband isn't allowed to take the kids or bring any food or beers, ask him how welcome he thinks he'll be if he isn't bringing anything other then an empty stomache. 3) If hubby doesn't buck up his ideas, start taking the fam out to eat and either refuse to let hubby join or if you do let him join, order food he doesn't like for him and if he complains tell him to just grow up, you aren't changing the whole order just because he's picky.
